Happy Princess week! How in the world is the Princess Half Marathon this weekend? Where did the time go? I swear that I was just finishing the Dopey Challenge a few days ago. I am pretty excited about this race weekend because my younger sister is flying from Chicago to the run the 10k with me, my mom, and my baby sister. My mom is running her first race since her open heart surgery in November. I am so proud of her and how far she has come in the last few months. I just hope that I am ready to tackle the Glass Slipper Challenge again this year.
Last week was not one of my best weeks at all. My body did not want to work with me for most of the week. By the time I started to feel normal, I just didn’t want have the desire to sweat at all. It was one of those weeks when I just didn’t really want to work out. I know that I need to put in the effort if I want to see results but there are some days when I don’t want to. I listened to my body and gave myself a break. Unfortunately, my unplanned break is going to make it really difficult to reach my mileage for the month. I will need to really run as much as possible in the next two weeks.

On Monday, my friend and I were supposed to meet to for a lunch time run (something that I have never done). In Florida, we have very little opportunity to enjoy a lunch time run and I have always been worried about having to go back to work afterwards. With the beautiful weather we have been enjoying, I wasn’t too worried about that. Unfortunately, my friend wasn’t feeling great and the weather wasn’t really all that great. Instead of running, I met Pete at the gym for some cross training and my core workout. These core workouts are getting tougher every day and I can’t wait to see how my core looks at the end of the month.
Tuesday was not a very good day for me. I hoped to get in an easy 4 mile run after work at the gym but all of the treadmills were full and I didn’t have any socks with me. I decided to head home to run on the treadmill in our garage but my body decided that I wasn’t going to be running. One of the side effects of what I am dealing with got the better of me and I decided to take it easy. My body was still not cooperating with me on Wednesday evening so I decided that I needed to take another rest day. The Glass Slipper Challenge is next week and I really don’t want my body to cause any issues.
On Thursday, I was finally starting to feel normal so I figured it was time to go for a run. I was still a little nervous about how my body would react so I decided not to run the 4 miles that I had planned. After I got home from work, I jumped on the treadmill in the garage for an easy 30 minute run. When I hit 30 minutes, I decided to just run a little bit more to reach the 2.5 mile mark. I figured it would be a nice way to round off my mileage so far this month. For the most part, it felt great to run even though my legs felt a little sluggish. I really didn’t want to push my luck too much so I decided not to do my core workout for the day.
When I got off of work on Friday, the last thing I wanted to do was go to the gym. I really just wanted to go home and curl up on the couch with Pete. At some point in the near future, we are going to have to figure out a way to get us back to the gym on a more consistent basis. I thought about my doing a core workout but I didn’t even really want to do that. My attitude towards working out stayed the same for most of the weekend. I thought about going for a run on Saturday afternoon but I got caught up working on my site and then we ended up making dinner together. We decided to recreate the awesome shrimp and grits from the Cigna Blogger Cook Off event and I think we nailed it. I want to test it out and really perfect the recipe before I post it though. Sunday was much the same as Saturday. We spent most of the day relaxing. We did manage to run a few errands. We also watched the Saturday Night Live 40th Celebration special. It was awesome!
How did your workouts go last week? Did you watch the SNL 40th special?
