Well hello there! How was your Hump Day? I am unfortunately suffering from yet another head cold and haven’t really felt good all week. I think today was probably the worst day of the week. Hopefully, I will feel good enough to go for a run tomorrow night. I have been itching to get back at it ever since we got off of the cruise ship.
Since it is Wednesday, it is time to check in on how my weight loss goals are going. I must say that it was a little bit strange for me to not weigh in last week. At one point, I even considered packing the scale so that I could weigh in on Monday morning before we left the hotel. I am kind of glad that I didn’t though. After my first weigh in and initial weight loss, my weight has been in a bit of a holding pattern and driving me absolutely bonkers. I have been racking my brain trying to figure out what I have been doing wrong. Maybe my body was resisting my efforts because of the abnormal issues I have been dealing with. I did have a trip to the emergency room a few weeks ago. Maybe my head wasn’t quite ready for the whole weight loss and counting calories thing again.
After almost two weeks of not counting calories and not paying close attention to what I was consuming, I was petrified to see the number on the scale. I was certain that the little progress I had made was washed down the drain. I just knew that I would be starting over from scratch and that I would have an uphill battle to get back on track. As I stepped on the scale, I cringed and closed my eyes truly afraid of the number that I was about to see. I knew that I needed to face the music and see where I was starting from. When I opened my eyes, I was surprised, shocked, and absolutely thrilled by the number I saw. Somehow, I had managed to actually LOSE weight while on vacation.

Week 5 Progress Photos
For the last two weeks, my goals were rather simple. I wanted to drink plenty of water and be mindful of what I consumed. While we were out of town, I made sure to carry a water bottle with me at all times. Whether or not I actually drank the water is a whole other issue that I need to work on. Carrying a water bottle with me acted as a reminder to drink water, which actually worked pretty well most of the time. Besides attempting to drink plenty of water, I also wanted to make sure that I didn’t overindulge myself, which is something I have been known to do while on vacation. The hardest part about that goal was having to deal with the insatiable hunger that always follows the completion of marathon. Somehow, I managed to never walk away from a meal feeling stuffed. In the end, I feel like I did a pretty darn good job with my goals for the last two weeks.
My goals for this week are simply to get back on track with my calorie counting and fitness routine. Calorie counting is rather difficult when you are vacation, especially when you are on a cruise ship. Getting back into the habit of tracking and logging all of my food is something that I have been doing pretty good on so far. It is a tedious task but it is how I am going to be get my eating habits under control for the long run. Unfortunately, my workouts have been on hold for the last two days while I have dealing with my head cold. I am really hoping that my head cold will clear up by the end of the week so I can get in a run or two this weekend.
