Good afternoon! Today is the day. The Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend is finally here. Pete is picking me up early from work and then we are headed over to the ESPN Wide World of Sports for the race expo. I need to pick up my packet and get a few last minute things before the craziness of the Dopey Challenge begins. I can not believe that it all starts tomorrow. My nerves are kicking in high gear right now.
Last week was a great week of workouts. I got in everything that I planned to except for some yoga. I never had a chance to make up for it since I had the huge task of packing for two different types of vacations last night. Besides having a good week of workouts, I didn’t really have a great week. I didn’t drink nearly enough water and I ended up eating lunch out for most of the week. Eating one or two meals a week is one thing and I can usually make up the calorie difference if I really watch what I eat for the rest of the week. When I am eating out lunch and dinner for several days in a row, my calorie intake goes absolutely crazy.
- (Re)Starting Weigh In (12/15/14): 171.4 lbs.
- Last Week’s Weigh In (12/29/14): 169.0 lbs.
- This Week’s Weigh In (1/5/15): 169.0 lbs.
- This Week’s Weight Change: 0.0 lbs. (0.0%)
- Total Weight Change: –2.4 lbs. (-1.4%)
Once again, my weight didn’t change. This aspect of trying to lose weight is almost as frustrating as gaining weight. It means that I am still not doing something quite right. I know that I haven’t been on top of my game but I really would have liked to see a little difference after a really good week of workouts. I ran 24 miles over the weekend and nothing changed with my weight. GAH! I realize that it is the holiday season and trying to lose weight is often a futile effort. Maybe I am just trying to do too many things right now. Training for an endurance event, getting through the holidays and trying to lose weight may not go so easily together as I once thought they did.
Last week, I wanted to focus on drinking more water and getting better at tracking my calories. I was not very good at either one of those goals. I have been honestly scared to drink too much water knowing that it would cause me to take bathroom breaks during the day. My body has been behaving lately but I am still worried that I will have another flair up every time I go to the bathroom. So far this week, I have been doing much better with my water consumption. I will need to be as hydrated as possible before tomorrow morning when the madness begins. Keeping track of my caloric intake was a lot harder than I expected last week. Way too many of my meals were eaten out and that always makes it harder to know what calorie count actually is. The next two weeks will be crazy hard in this arena and I don’t have high hopes for my weight loss goals. Between the Dopey Challenge and another cruise, my appetite (and likely my weight as well) will sky rocket.
My goals for the next two weeks are hopefully simple enough that I can achieve them. I am also hoping that my goals will help me at least maintain my current weight. I would LOVE to lose weight but I know that will not be very easy. I will be running 48.6 miles in 4 days and my hunger will be downright out of control. Next week, Pete and I will be on a cruise and the food will be everywhere. My big goal is to drink water like it is my job. Hydration will be super important based on what the weather is looking like for the weekend. My other goal is to be mindful about my food choices and how much I eat. Just because it is in front of me or on my plate does not mean that I need to eat it.
Do you struggle with stagnant weight loss?
