Happy first Friday of the year! How are you guys doing today? Once again, I spent the day at work in a practically empty office. Hopefully, I can finish up what I need to soon so that I can go home. When I was getting ready for work this morning, I realized this is my last Friday at work for two weeks and I only have 3 work days left before my runDisney vacation begins. How in the world is the Dopey Challenge next weekend? I keep asking myself that but it still keeps getting closer and closer. I am starting to get really nervous. Hopefully, I will get in a some decent running this weekend to help calm my nerves down a bit.
Speaking of the weekend, what are your plans? Do you have anything exciting planned? Besides knocking out some decent mileage, I will be putting away our Christmas decorations so that the house will be somewhat clean when we get back from vacation. Coming home to a dirty house is probably one of my biggest pet peeves about going on vacation. The very last thing that I want to do is clean the house when I already have piles of laundry to deal with. Enough ranting about dirty houses post vacation. I think my Dopey nerves are on high alert right now.
I am also planning to attempt to make homemade ice cream. GAH! As soon as I started playing with my stand mixer, Pete realized just how awesome it really is. He went online and ordered several attachments for it, including the ice cream maker. The ice cream maker finally arrived today. On my way home from work, I will stopping by the store to pick up a few ingredients to make our first ever batch of French Vanilla ice cream. While I am more of a chocolate ice cream kind of girl, Pete thought it would be easier to start with a simple vanilla recipe. I can’t wait to see how it turns out!
Since it is the beginning of the month, I thought it would be a good time for me to set out my goals for living joyfully. My New Year’s Resolution is rather vague this year but I honestly believe that it is something that I can actually achieve. With hope of finding joy in the everyday moments, here are my goals for January.
Health + Fitness: Rock the Dopey Challenge! Run 100 miles.
Blogging: Be consistent and engaging.
Photography: Take (and share) photos daily.
Life: Get organized.
My health and fitness goals are pretty straight forward. The Dopey Challenge is next week so I should be able to complete the first part rather quickly. While I am nervous, I know that I will be able to finish it. The only distance that I am truly worried about is the marathon (who isn’t?) but I know that I will be able to finish it. Running 100 miles should not be too difficult since I will running almost half of that next weekend. Last January, I ran 96 miles so I will just need to squeeze in an extra 4 miles somewhere.
My blogging goal is something that I have been trying to achieve for quite some time. I am finally ready to put my writing higher up on my list of priorities. In the past, I have always felt that my writing wasn’t quite good enough to be published even though I was publishing it on my own personal space. I don’t want to blog for the sake of blogging but I do want to create a consistency that will allow me to still be as creative as possible. I am also going to be better about posting race recaps and travel stories. I should have a bunch of those this month.
My photography goal is something that should already be apart of my life but isn’t. In 2014, I really didn’t share a lot of photos or even take a lot of photos for that matter. I felt like my life was boring and mundane most of the time and no one in their right mind would want to see the dame thing everyday. I lost sight of the joy of photography gives me. In an effort to reclaim that joy and to find the joy in the everyday moments, I want to attempt to take and share photos daily.
My life goal is all about getting organized. I will definitely not be able to get everything organized in my life this month but I can make an effort to start. I have my day planner all set up to help me with keeping my daily life organized, which is exactly where I am going to start. Maybe I will be able to get my closet or home office organized this month too.
What are your goals for January? What are your plans for the weekend?
