Despite having made the effort to kick some serious butt on my workouts for the previous two weeks, nothing went the way that I had planned last week. Pete and I had such weekend that I was hoping that last week would continue along those same lines. That was not the case at all. Not even a little bit. I worked until past 9 pm every single night last week except for Friday. Thankfully, my submitted went out this afternoon so I should have some breathing room a little while. I am really hoping that it lasts until after the Dopey Challenge in January but who knows.

On Monday morning, I sat down at my desk knowing full well that last week was going to be awful. I just didn’t realize just how bad it was going to be. We worked until almost 10 pm before finally calling it quits. I thought that working late on Monday would mean that we would leave at a somewhat reasonable time on Tuesday. That didn’t happen. We worked late Every. Single. Night. It was rough and definitely took a serious toll on me. I can’t remember the last time I have been that exhausted.
By Friday, I was itching to go for a run. The project was in really good shape so I was able to leave work at a reasonable time. I actually got home before the sun went down, which means I was able to fit in an easy run on the treadmill before dinner! Those 4 miles didn’t feel super easy or even relaxed but I was thrilled to just run.
After a lazy Saturday, I was ready to run the FrankenFooter Half Marathon on Sunday morning. I signed up for the race at the last minute so that I would still have an October race. Sleeping through that 15k race earlier this month really put a damper on my running plans. My marathon training plan called for an 18 mile long run on Sunday so I planned to use a warm up and cool down to make up the extra miles. Unfortunately, I was called into work as soon as I finished the race and didn’t get a chance to finish the last 3.4 miles of my long run. I will say that half marathon #20 really showed me that I just need to keep running if I truly want to be the runner that I know is somewhere inside of me.
How did your workouts go last week?
