Happy Monday! How was your Fourth of July weekend? Mine was pretty laid back and relaxing. Pete and I spent most of the weekend at home just watching the television. We did manage to run some errands and I even started working on a new recipe for the blog. He really liked but there are still some tweaks that need to be made for the recipe to be perfect. I can’t wait to share it with you though.
Last week, Pete and I finally had the chance to get back to the gym. Every since his boy’s weekend cruise, his gym mojo has fallen to the wayside. For the last month and a half, we have both struggled with sticking to the LiveFit Trainer program. Pete has been struggling with motivation a lot more than I have though. Thankfully, both of our work schedules were super light last week so we were able to follow something that resembled a training plan. My goal is to really stick with it this week and to work towards finishing the program strong.

After work on Monday, I met Pete at the gym for our first workout together in ages. My workout started with a 20 minute easy run on the treadmill. Right now, I am just focusing on being consistent and slowly building up my endurance. Hopefully, I will be able to start working my improving my pace soon. I don’t want to push myself too much too soon though. I have way too many races coming up in the fall. After my run, we headed over the weights for a Back and Biceps workout.
On Tuesday, I didn’t make it to the gym because I had the opportunity to check a brand new restaurant that is going to opening soon. The food was absolutely amazing and I can’t wait until the restaurant opens so that Pete will get a chance to try it out. On Wednesday, I got caught up working on something at work and stayed much later than I would have liked.
Thursday evening, we headed back to the gym for another workout. Since it was a Legs day workout, I decided to do some cross training on the elliptical instead of an easy warm up run. The Legs day workout totally kicked my butt and I actually felt really weak at times. My body seems to have lost some of the strength that I worked so hard for when I was slacking off a little bit over the past few weeks.
I was planning to go for a short run on Friday but my legs were ridiculously sore from my workout the day before. I could barley sit because of how sore my back side was. We decided that maybe this was our bodies way of telling us to ease back into the whole serious strength training.
On Saturday afternoon, Pete and I finally felt like we could get in some cardio. He went for a bike ride and I went for a run. Holy humidity batman! I am not a morning person to trying to wake up early enough to beat the heat is not something that I can do easily. After my run on Saturday, I may start to reconsider my whole early morning run issues.
After spending most of Sunday on the couch watching television, we headed to the gym for another strength workout. Nothing like watching the Tour de France, the finals of Wimbledon, or a hot dog eating contest to get you motivated to hit the weights. On second thoughts, the hot dog eating contest actually grossed me out a little bit. How in the world can anyone stomach eating 60+ hot dogs in 10 minutes?!? After an easy warm up on the elliptical machine, we finished up the final workout of Week 9 (repeated).
How did your workouts go last week?
