While I don’t talk about it much, several of my family members (past and present) have served in the military, including both of my grandfathers, several cousins, and one of my grandmothers. My mom is always telling childhood stories about visiting military bases with her parents. Her father was a Corporal and a Chaplin in the United States Army during WWII and the Korean War. One of my favorite pictures of him was taken on Easter Sunday while he was giving mass to the troops in Korea. (I really wish I had a scan of that photo to share.) My mom’s mother served in the United States Air Force during WWII, which I think is pretty amazing.
Something that is very near and dear to my heart is supporting members of the military and their families, especially since I have had several family members serve our country. I think it is important to show them just how important they are to ensuring the freedoms that we hold so dear in this country. One way to do that is by supporting companies dedicated to giving back to the military and their families. When I found out about CK Mondavi‘s commitment to our military and their families, I knew that I had to share that with you.
CK Mondavi Family Vineyard was established in the 1940s by Italian immigrants Cesare and Rosa Mondavi and has remained a family owned and operated company dedicated to producing fine wines for four generations. CK Mondavi wines are produced in Napa Valley by the legendary wine icon, Peter Mondavi, Sr., who also happens to be a WWII veteran. CK Mondavi is the only American made/grown wine that is available in supermarkets for under $10.
One thing that I absolutely love about this company is what they are doing to support our military and their families through their partnership with the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund (IFHF). The IFHF is funded entirely by public donations and serves U.S. military personnel wounded or killed in service to our nation and their families. For more information, visit www.fallenheroesfund.org.
In 2012, CK Mondavi Family Vineyards began their partnership with IFHF to raise money and awareness to the organization. Over the past two years, CK Mondavi Family Vineyards has donated more than $50,000. CK Mondavi will donate a percentage of every bottle sold between May and August of this year to the IFHF.
Please comment below to share your own story about supporting veterans and/or American-made products. I will select ONE reader to be entered into CK Mondavi’s grand prize drawing by May 15. The grand prize is a $500 donation to the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund in the winner’s name!
