When I started the week, I had no idea how difficult it would be to attempt to fit everything in. I have a bunch of projects going on at work and they all seem to due at the same time. My work days were really long again this week so spending an hour at the gym before going home was not always the easiest thing to do. On Thursday, I just didn’t have the energy to go to the gym after work so I shifted my workout to the weekend.
The week started off with a seriously tough legs workout that had me sore for two days afterwards. Walking was tough! That workout sucked a lot of energy out of me and I think it sort of affected my upper body workouts over the next two days. On Thursday, my legs felt good enough to do the legs workout again but the rest of my body of exhausted. Not to mention the fact that I was registered for a 5k on Friday night.
On Friday night, I headed down to St. Petersburg after work for the Firestone Grand Prix 5k. I was curious to see how my body would feel after a month of not running. To my surprise, I felt really good! I knew that I missed running but I didn’t know how my body would react on its first run in a month. For the first mile of the race, I was rocking it! After that, my stomach started to get pretty angry with me. Apparently, my body wasn’t fueled enough to run as hard as my legs wanted to go.
On Saturday morning, Pete and I headed to the gym to get caught up on the workouts we had both missed. Both of our work weeks were pretty crazy and we needed to do complete the legs workout AND the shoulders and abs workout to finish the week up. Spending two and a half hours at the gym was not our idea of a fun Saturday activity but we managed to get the workouts done. It was really tough and I think we both decided to do our best to not miss anymore workouts.
How did your workouts go last week? Did you run any races this weekend?
