Last week was a really off week for me. As I mentioned before, I am not the biggest fan of living out of a suitcase unless I am on vacation. I spent the week in Tallahassee for work and didn’t really make working out a priority. When I made the hotel reservation, I was really excited to see that there was an Anytime Fitness right down the road. Unfortunately, I only used the gym once!
Monday: Rest (Traveling)
On Monday morning, Pete and I woke up early to pack up the room and check out of the Contemporary Resort. Thankfully, my legs weren’t too sore from all of the running and walking I had done over the weekend. By 8:30, I was in the car and making my way from Orlando to Tallahassee. When I finally made it to my hotel room that evening, I was flat out exhausted and didn’t have the energy to go to the gym.
On Tuesday, I really didn’t have the energy to go to the gym. I was starting to feel lonely and my routine was completely off. I am so not used to being at work before 8 am!
Wednesday: Strength Training + Easy Run
- Strength Training – Full Body Pyramid Workout (30 minutes)
- 2.70 miles, 35:50 minutes, 13:16 min/mile avg. pace, 149 BPM avg. HR
On Wednesday morning, I decided that enough was enough. I also wanted to make sure that I had at least one shake out run before the half marathon on Saturday. Before leaving my hotel, I made sure to pack my gym bag so I could go after my class was over. I started my workout with one of the full body pyramid workouts from last week. I increased the weights a little bit to make sure that I challenged myself. Afterwards, I changed my shoes and jumped on the treadmill for a short run. My legs actually felt pretty good and I was thrilled to get in a run while traveling.
I planned to bring my gym clothes with me again on Thursday morning but didn’t. I was running late and wanted to make sure I had a decent breakfast before class.
Friday: Rest (Traveling)
Working out on Friday wasn’t going to happen for several reasons. The class was only scheduled to be a half day and I had to drive back to Orlando after it finished. Sitting in the car for 4 hours is really exhausting. Plus, I was running another half marathon the next morning.
Saturday: Best Damn Race Half Marathon
- 13.11 miles, 2:45:06 (total time), 12:36 min/mile avg. pace, 160 BPM avg. HR
On Saturday morning, I ran my 18th half marathon. I didn’t set a new PR but I did beat my time from the Safety Harbor half marathon. The temperature was great even though the humidity wasn’t. The course was a fun jaunt around downtown Orlando. When I crossed the finish line, I was a little disappointed that my watch read 12.97 miles. I am hoping that it just lost the signal when I ran under some of the bridges. After the race, I finally drove home and spent the rest of the day relaxing.
I spent all day Sunday recovering from my week of traveling across the state. My body was completely spent and I didn’t have the energy to do anything.
How did your workouts go last week? Did you run any races?
