Last week was a tough one for me. My workouts weren’t difficult or hard. However, my head cold really did a number on me. Some days I felt fine but most of the time I had some difficulty breathing. The worst part about being sick is that it sucked all of the life out me and I really didn’t want to do anything … at all! I did manage to do the three Best Body Bootcamp strength workouts for the week.
Monday: Rest (Sick Day)
We attempted to wake up early to go to the gym but that just didn’t happen. Instead, we made plans to go after I got home from work. Of course, I ended up having an 11 hour work day. By the time I actually did get home from work, I decided that the gym was not happening today.
Tuesday: Strength Training + Cross Training
- Strength Training – Core Upper Body Workout (30 minutes)
- Elliptical – 1.58 miles, 20:00 minutes
On Tuesday morning, Pete and I woke up early and headed to the gym. Thankfully, my head cold didn’t bother me too much so I was able to knock out a pretty good workout. Since I missed my workout on Monday, I did the first strength workout of this round of Best Body Bootcamp. Today’s workout focused on the upper body with an emphasis on the core. It was a tough workout and I definitely felt it. Once I finished up my strength workout, I hopped on the elliptical machine for some cardio work.
Wednesday: Strength Training + Cross Training
- Strength Training – Core Lower Body Workout (30 minutes)
- Elliptical – 1.65 miles, 20:00 minutes
When the alarm went off on Wednesday morning, I did not feel well at all so I decided to sleep in. As the day went on, I started to feel better so I headed off to the gym to get in the second strength workout for the week. Today’s workout focused on the lower body and also emphasized the core. The one leg touchdown squats really worked my legs and I definitely felt it. I finished up my workout with some intervals on the elliptical machine.
Thursday: Rest (Sick Day)
My head and body hurt all day long! I was really hoping to get in a short run in on Thursday but breathing was difficult. I figured that taking the day off and not pushing myself too hard would be my best option for getting healthy.
Friday: Strength Training + Cross Training
- Strength Training – Core Full Body Workout (30 minutes)
- Elliptical – 1.62 miles, 20:00 minutes
After work on Friday, Pete and I met at the gym to knock out a workout. The third strength workout for this week was a full body workout with a core emphasis. I don’t think I realized how sore my body was until I started this workout. My legs were on fire after the first round of exercises. I finished my workout up with some intervals on the elliptical machine.
Saturday: Wii Fit + House Cleaning
I was hoping to get in a short run at some point on Saturday. My lingering head cold and my crazy sore legs had other plans though. Pete and I ended up doing a bunch of house work. We dusted, cleaned, and rearranged the living room. We also finished putting together the Grill Dome that I won on The Price Is Right. Oh and I played on our Wii Fit for about 30 minutes.
Sunday: Rest (Sick Day)
Apparently, dusting the house when you are still getting over a head cold is a really bad idea! I woke feeling absolutely horrible. My plan to go for a run on Sunday was completely taken off the books. I spent most of the day on the couch not doing much of anything.
