Today I have a fun giveaway to share with you! It is a great one for the holiday travel and to help jump start your New Year’s Resolutions.
Before I get to that, I have a small confession to make. You see, I have always had a soft spot for all things dairy. Who doesn’t love a tall glass of milk with warm chocolate chip cookies? What burger would be complete without a slice or two of melted cheese? Unfortunately, my stomach is not a huge fan of dairy and I have had to adjust my eating habits accordingly. I still eat dairy but in a very limited amount … very limited.
Without high amounts of dairy in my life, I have had to find some alternative sources of milk and protein supplements. (Whey and casein proteins are dairy based.) Soy protein powder is one of my favorite protein supplements now. However, I haven’t exactly found a soy based protein bar that I really liked until now.
A few weeks ago, I was given the opportunity to try some soy based protein bars. To be honest, I was a little hesitant at first because not all protein bars are created equal. I was sent a gift pack with three different bars and a “Powered by Soy Protein” travel kit (one of you lucky readers will win a similar gift pack). I was also provided with some information about soy protein to share with you guys.
Information about Soy Protein
- Soy protein is a high‐quality, plant‐based protein derived from soybeans.
- Soy protein preserves lean body mass, promotes fat loss, and boosts satiety during weight loss.
- A blend of proteins – soy, whey and casein, prolongs muscle building after exercise and increases recovery compared to whey alone.
- Soy protein promotes muscle growth and development.
- Soy protein is equivalent to whey protein for building muscle when consumed as part of a resistance training program.
- Soy protein has the ability to displace fat and sugar calories.
In my gift pack, I received a Chocolate Coconut bar from Nogii Protein Bar, a White Chocolate, Fruit & But bar from NOW Energy Bar, and a Nut About Berries Bar from Nogii Protein Bar. I absolutely loved the two bars from Nogii and will be on the lookout for them in the grocery store. I thought those two bars were delicious and had the right balance of flavors.
The NOW Energy Bar was a little too sweet for me but I still enjoyed the bar. Honey is one of the main ingredients though so the bar was bound to be sweet.
The gift pack also included a “Powered By Soy Protein” Travel Kit, which included a pedometer, a jump rope, and a hand strengthener. This kit is a great way to help me stay on track when I am traveling. I will be bringing it with me the next time I head out of town.
