Growing up, my favorite holiday tradition was our annual camping trip to Walt Disney World during Christmas break. We were the crazy family that would ride around on the buses, boats and monorails singing carols until we were blue in the face. I absolutely loved it!
Since we are Annual Passholders, we had the chance to get discounted tickets for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. It didn’t take too much convincing to get my boyfriend to go with me. He knows how much I love the holidays especially at Disney.
Two weeks ago, my boyfriend picked me up early from work and we headed over to the Magic Kingdom. I set up some FastPass+’s during breakfast so that we would be able to hop on a few rides before the holiday party started. After we parked the car and rode the monorail into the park, we headed straight over to Space Mountain. As my boyfriend said, “I don’t think anyone has ever left our house and made it on Space Mountain in less time.” I truly LOVE the FastPass+ system.
Then we headed over to the Rose Garden to pick up our special wristbands for the party. The line looked pretty long when we got in it. Thankfully, it didn’t take too long so we had plenty of time to grab dinner. We headed over to the Sleepy Hollow Inn to grab some chicken and waffle sandwiches. I heard about these sandwiches a while ago and couldn’t resist them any longer. We ordered the Sweet & Spicy Chicken Waffle Sandwich and it was delicious! The chicken was fried using a spicy batter and dipped in a sweet syrup. Then it was placed in a large fluffy Belgian waffle with slaw and arugula. Holy yum!
After we finished eating, it was time to go over to the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. I absolutely love this ride. My boyfriend and I have way too much on Big Thunder Mountain. Then we went over to the Jungle Jingle Cruise. I really wanted to check out the holiday transformation and it was so much fun!
By the time we finished using our Fast Passes, the park was getting ready to reset for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. We headed back over to Main Street USA to find a place to hang out. The holiday party included a several shows, parades and an amazing fireworks show so we wanted to find a place to enjoy everything. I also wanted to check out the snow falling on Main Street!
While enjoying the shows, my boyfriend and I drank some coffee from the Main Street Bakery. We love the fact that Starbucks is at Walt Disney World. We also ate way too many snickerdoodle cookies and drank far too much hot chocolate. A holiday party just wouldn’t be complete without copious amounts of cookies and hot chocolate.
When the first round of shows were finished, we wandered around the park before heading home. As we wandered around New Fantasyland, I spotted all seven of Snow White’s dwarfs and insisted that we stop for a photo. It is rare to see all of the dwarfs out together so I couldn’t pass up the chance to get a photo with them.
As we left the park, we couldn’t stop talking about how much we had at Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. My boyfriend loved the Celebrate the Magic show so much that we are planning to check it out again during the upcoming Marathon Weekend.
What is one holiday tradition that you truly love?
