Has it really been almost two weeks since my last Weekly Workouts post? To be quite honest, I haven’t really wanted to write posts filled with my excuses for not following my training plan. I felt like I was going strong and then our trip to California happened. Ever since that trip, I haven’t been able to find my groove. Over the last few weeks, I have been swamped about work, studying a professional exam, and just trying to keep my head above water. Last week, I finally found a little bit of a balance and was able to get in my scheduled runs. It was an awesome feeling to finally get back on track.

Before I went to sleep on Monday night, I decided that I was going to wake up and go for a run on Tuesday. Waking up early is not one of my best qualities. In fact, I am usually running late in the morning because I don’t get along with the alarm clock at all. On Tuesday morning, the alarm went off and I rolled out of bed. I managed to change into my running clothes and head out to the treadmill in our garage. My run didn’t start off very good (I felt like I was sleep running!) but I knocked out a 3 mile run before getting ready for work.
On Wednesday night, I tried to give myself the same pep talk as I did on Monday night. Unfortunately I was not in the mood to wake up earlier than I had to on Thursday morning. I ended up turning the alarm off and got another hour of sleep. When I got home from work, I decided to hit the treadmill to make up for my missed run. As I started my run, I realized that I am much happier (and faster) when I run at night.
I spent most of the weekend studying for my professional test. My plan was to wake up early on Sunday and finish my long run before I got started on my studying for the day. I didn’t wake up as early as I wanted to so I pushed off my run until that evening. When I finally started my run, it was much later than I would have liked but I didn’t want miss my long run. When I finished my 12 mile long run, I was ecstatic with how it went. I ran the entire distance and my pace was much better than I expected it to be. My legs started to feel a little tired at mile 8 but I didn’t let that stop me.
