Is it really that time of year again? Time to lace up the running shoes and put all of that training (or lack there of in my case) to the test. Long Distance Racing season is here once again. Technically, I have already done 3 races but those completely snuck up on me before I had a chance to appreciate the fact that Fall is here! Since it is a new racing season, here is a breakdown of my upcoming races and dates.
October 5th – Tower of Terror 10 Miler
I ran this race last year and really enjoyed it. The weather wasn’t fabulous and my time suffered but I thought the folks at runDisney did a good job with this race. Rumor has it that there have been some improvements to the on-course entertainment. I can’t wait to run this race!
October 27th – Halloween Halfathon
Back in March, I ran the Beach Halfathon and I decided afterwards that I wanted to run some of the other races in this series. Plus the starfish medals are awesome! The race organization did a really great job with this race too.
November 9th – Wine and Dine Half Marathon
This will be the third year in a row that I have run the Wine and Dine Half Marathon. Of all the runDisney races that I have done, this one is definitely my favorite. The course is completely different from the other half marathons at Walt Disney World and the after party in Epcot is awesome!
November 24th – Women’s Half Marathon
The Women’s Half Marathon has been on my “To Run” list for almost 2 years now but it has never worked out with my schedule. Finally. my calendar is clear for this race weekend. I am actually pretty excited about this race because the medals are awesome and I lover running through my hometown. I think I might be a little obsessed with race medals.
November 28th – Tampa Bay Times Turkey Trot 10k
It just wouldn’t be Thanksgiving without the annual Turkey Trot through Clearwater. The first time I did this race I ran the 10k. Last year, I ran the timed 5k race. I think I am going to run the 10k again this year.
December 15th – Holiday Halfathon
The Holiday Halfathon is another race in the Florida Halfathon Race Series, which means the medal is a starfish again. By this time, I should be well into the longest runs for my Dopey Challenge training. I am planning to use the race to supplement my weekend long run and as a way to really test out running on tired legs.
January 9th to 12th – Dopey Challenge
4 races, 4 days, 48.6 miles, 6 runDisney medals … need I say more …
January 18th – ZOOMA Florida
Do you remember when I was crazy enough to run my first ever full marathon and then a half marathon the very next weekend? Well I am doing it again! I had such an amazing time working with the ZOOMA race organization this past year. So when they asked me to apply to be a race ambassador again this year, I couldn’t say no. I am probably going to run the half marathon again because I really enjoyed the course.
If you are interested in running ZOOMA Florida with me, use the code FLAMB10 to receive 10% off of your registration fees. This discount code applies to either the 5k or Half Marathon.
February 1st – Best Damn Race Half Marathon
Last year, my mom and my sister ran the 5k for the Best Damn Race and really enjoyed it. At the time, I was a little envious because the race sounded like a bunch of fun. When registration opened this year, I made sure to register as soon as possible so I could get the best price. My sister is actually running the half marathon and it will be her first one.
February 22nd to 23rd – Glass Slipper Challenge
The last race weekend that I have on my schedule is the runDisney Glass Slipper Challenge. This challenge is along the same lines of the Dumbo Double Dare, which means I will be running a 10k on Saturday morning and a half marathon on Sunday morning. Hopefully, my times for these races will be faster than they were for DDD.
So what does your racing season look like?
