Hey guys! My boyfriend and I are home safe and sound from our California adventure. It was such an amazing trip and I can’t wait to share everything we did with you. This week’s posts will be filled with a whole bunch of runDisney and next week I will share our San Francisco adventures. I took a ton of photos and we ate more than our fair share of delicious food! Before I get started on those posts, let’s talk about how my workouts went for the last two weeks.

In the days leading up to the Dumbo Double Dare Challenge, I decided to take things easy. I wanted to save my legs as much as possible so that I could have the best races possible. I also had a ton of packing and traveling ahead of me. On Tuesday, I decided to do a 3 mile run to make sure my legs were ready to go. That run felt really good and I knew that I was as ready as I was going to be for 19.3 miles of running through Disney.
On Wednesday night, my boyfriend and I stayed up late packing and getting and ready. We were both exhausted on Thursday but our California vacation was finally here. We arrived super late (by our standards) to California and crashed in our hotel room. On Friday, we went to the race expo and wandered around Downtown Disney. I’m glad we had more than 24 hours to adjust to the time change because crashed early on Friday night.
On Saturday morning, I woke up and ran the first leg of the Dumbo Double Dare Challenge. The Disneyland 10K was awesome! I absolutely loved running through Disneyland and Disney’s California Adventure parks. After the race, we decided to skip going into the parks and hang out in the Downtown Disney area. We also spent some quality time by the pool.
On Sunday morning, I ran the Disneyland Half Marathon and walked away with an obscene amount of race medals hanging around my neck. The race was warm and humid so I definitely took it easy. I also stopped for quite a few photos during the race. With my races behind me, my boyfriend and I decided to go spend some time in the theme parks. It was an awesome weekend!
Week of September 2nd Workouts:
- Monday, 9/2/2013 – Walking around Disneyland
- Tuesday, 9/3/2013 – Rest / Travel Day
- Wednesday, 9/4/2013 – Walking around San Francisco
- Thursday, 9/5/2013 – Walking around San Francisco
- Friday, 9/6/2013 – Walking around San Francisco
- Saturday, 9/7/2013 – Rest / Travel Day
- Sunday, 9/8/2013 – Rest
The Monday after the Dumbo Double Dare, I was incredibly sore! Seriously, I was hurting! Of course, I wasn’t going to let that stop me from enjoying our last day in Disneyland. We woke early, packed our suitcases and headed off into the parks. When we were done, we grabbed our rental car and headed to a different hotel closer to Angels Stadium.
Tuesday was the first real rest day that I had. We spent a few hours in LA before driving north to San Francisco. The drive was just long enough that my legs were able to recover from all of the walking and running I had done over the weekend.
The rest of the week we spent in San Francisco. I had ever intention of fitting in a few short runs but we walked more than 6 miles every single day and the hills absolutely killed me. I am such a Florida girl because my calves and quads were screaming at me every single time I approached a hill. It was totally worth it though. We arrived home late on Saturday night and didn’t feel like doing much of anything on Sunday.
How were your workouts over the last two weeks? Any awesome races coming up?
By the way, this is just a small sampling of our amazing trip. I should start the real recaps in the next day or two.
