Weekly Workouts: August 19, 2013

Happy Wednesday everyone! Today is actually my Thursday and I am bouncing off the walls with excitement for our trip. By the way, I should be packing but I am totally procrastinating. Before I head back to the mountain of clothes I need to shove into my suitcase, I wanted to tell you about last week’s workouts.

Last Week’s Workouts:

  • Monday – Rest
  • Tuesday – Easy Run
    • 3.00 miles, 39:53 minutes, 13:19 min/mile avg. pace
  • Wednesday – Cross Training + Strength Training
    • Elliptical – 0.40 miles, 5:00 minutes
    • Strength Training – NROLFW Workout 2B #2 (52 minutes)
  • Thursday – Rest
  • Friday – Rest
  • Saturday – Easy Run
    • 5.00 miles, 1:09:44 (total time), 13:56 min/mile avg. pace
  • Sunday – Rest

So the last full week of training before the Dumbo Double Dare challenge could have gone a little bit better. It was my last chance to get in a solid long run. It was the last weekend that I could knock out a pair of back-to-back runs. Unfortunately, accomplishing these tasks did not exactly go according to plan. I was really hoping that I would have a totally confidence boosting week but that didn’t happen.

Tuesday's Run

My run on Tuesday felt seriously amazing! I was so ready to have a stellar week of training. My pace wasn’t the fastest but I felt like I could take on the world. On Wednesday morning, my boyfriend and I headed to the gym and I did a strength workout. I didn’t plan to push myself very hard. I accidently pushed myself a little harder than I intended because I was ridiculously sore on Thursday and Friday.

On Saturday, I spent the day running errands and doing things that I have been putting off for a while. When I finished up, I hoped on the treadmill and knocked out a 5 mile run. I didn’t feel great during my run but I didn’t let that prevent me from finishing my run. I could tell that I hadn’t been drinking enough water throughout the week. I didn’t feel great on Sunday so I decided to take it easy. I was really hoping to run 10 miles but I figured my body would appreciate all the rest it could get.

And just in case you were wondering, I had a massive freak out session yesterday morning. My training has not gone exactly the way I wanted it to and I just just think I have trained hard enough for this weekend. My boyfriend had to talk some serious sense into me before I went to work and I am so grateful to him. In the need, I know that I am going to have an amazing time. My finishing times may not be the best but I will cross those finish lines and I will love every single minute.
