Weekly Workouts: June 3, 2013

Last week was completely exhausting but also absolutely amazing. I actually managed to find time to do every single workout I had on my training plan. I didn’t allow myself to be derailed because I missed a day. Nor did I let myself be discouraged by not waking up early. I changed up my plan as needed and had a great week of workouts. Besides, my project at work has FINALLY finished and I can now get back to a somewhat normal life!

2013 June Weekly Workouts

Last Week’s Workouts:

  • Monday, 6/3/2013 – Cross Training + Strength Training
    • Elliptical – 2.00 miles, 20:00 minutes
    • Strength Training – NROLFW Workout 1B #3 (26 minutes)

Monday's Workout

On Monday morning, I wasn’t in the mood to wake up and go to the gym. I don’t think it helped that my boyfriend was still on his weekend fishing trip. Since my goal for the week was to NOT miss a workout, I brought my gym clothes to work with me so I could work out after work. I started my workout with a 10 minute warm up on the elliptical machine. When I headed over to the free weights, there were a lot more people than I am used to but I still managed to finish my workout without any issues. I finished my workout with another 10 minutes on the elliptical.

  • Tuesday, 6/4/2013 – Easy Run
    • 4.04 miles, 54:00 minutes, 13:22 min/mile avg. pace

Tuesday's Run

On Tuesday morning, my boyfriend and I woke up early and headed to the gym. My Dumbo Double Dare Training plan called for an easy 4 miles at an average pace of 13:29 min/mile. I hopped on the treadmill and set the speed to 4.5 mph (or 13:20 min/mile). Without stopping or hitting pause once, I ran the entire 4 miles. My run felt amazing!

  • Wednesday, 6/5/2013 – Cross Training + Strength Training
    • Elliptical – 1.86 miles, 20:00 minutes
    • Strength Training – NROLFW Workout 1A #4 (28 minutes)

Wednesday's Workout

When I woke up on Wednesday morning, I was tempted to stay in bed and skip my morning workout. My boyfriend convinced me to get out of bed and go to the gym. He must have known that it would be a really bad day at work. After my 10 minute warm up on the elliptical machine, I headed over the free weights. For the most part, my weight lifting workout was uneventful. I tried to make sure I was lifting weights that would challenge my body. I cooled down on the elliptical machine for 10 minutes.

  • Thursday, 6/6/2013 – Rest

I got home so late on Wednesday night that waking up early to go to the gym was not going to happen. I even missed my favorite yoga class because of work. Since I didn’t know how long I would be at the office, I decided to not bring my gym clothes with me. I had a ton of stuff to finish up before my project wrapped up. I decided to switch up my planned rest day from Saturday to Thursday this week.

  • Friday, 6/7/2013 – Easy Run
    • 3.01 miles, 38:49 minutes, 12:52 min/mile avg. pace

Friday's Run

When I left work on Friday evening, I felt a crazy sense of relief. My crazy project was finally wrapped up after what seemed like forever (a year and a half of my life). On the drive home, I decided that I would celebrate with a run on the treadmill we have in the garage. It was much later than I normally like to work out but I really needed to run. An easy 3 mile run was just what the doctor ordered!

  • Saturday, 6/8/2013 – Cross Training + Strength Training
    • Elliptical – 3.05 miles, 30:00 minutes
    • Strength Training – NROLFW Workout 1B #4 (25 minutes)

Saturday's Workout

On Saturday, my boyfriend and I grabbed some brunch and coffee before he went to work. I, on the other hand, headed to the gym. Normally, Saturdays are my planned rest day but not this week. One nice thing about going to the gym on the weekend is that I have more time to work out. I took advantage of it by spending some extra time on the elliptical machine during my cool down.

  • Sunday, 6/9/2013 – Long Run
    • 5.00 miles, 1:02:58 (total time), 12:34 min/mile avg. pace

Sunday's Run

Despite the heat, I decided to not skip my long run on Sunday morning. It was a little warm outside and the sun was blaring so I opted to tackle the mileage on the treadmill in our garage. I was still really warm but at least I wasn’t in the direct sunlight. My training plan only called 4 miles but the music on my Pandora station was so good that I added an extra mile. Music is such a great motivator! I was singing, dancing and fist-pumping while running on the treadmill. It was probably the best run I have had so far in this training cycle.

      Thanks Meghan! It has been a little difficult to fit everything in that I want to during the day. Last week was one of those rare weeks for me when everything just worked out. Hopefully, I will have plenty of those during this training cycle.
