Ok so I think I might be a little crazy or at least very Dopey!
Last week, I started hearing rumors that runDisney was going to up their game … by A LOT. At the time, I didn’t really want to believe the rumors because I knew I wouldn’t be able to resist the temptation of new races or new bling. (Hello! I totally registered for the Dumbo Double Dare Challenge and I have never even been to California!) Then on Friday the rumors became truth when they announced the Dopey Challenge. (Check out the video in this post!)

For years, the Dopey Challenge has been an “unofficial” challenge that runDisney enthusiasts created to up the Goofy Challenge. It consisted of running three races in three days for a grand total of 39.3 miles. The prize was four medals and four shirts.
Apparently, adding the Family Fun Run 5k wasn’t enough for runDisney “official” Dopey Challenge. Oh no! The official Dopey Challenge will require running four races in four days for a grand total of 48.6 miles! I think I might be crazy for even considering this challenge. runDisney added a 10k (with a Minnie Mouse medal) to the Walt Disney World Marathon weekend line up. In order to earn the Dopey medal, I will need to run a 5k, a 10k, a half marathon and a full marathon. HOLY WOW! That is a lot of running!
My original plan was to run the marathon again in 2014. I want redemption. I want a better finishing time and I really want to feel like a marathoner. Then I was going to attempt the Goofy Challenge in 2015 because it is an anniversary year and I have a thing for runDisney anniversary race bling (as you can see below).
It is no secret that I love runDisney events. I usually save all of my big races for them because I enjoy them so much. My biggest fear is that I won’t be able to train as hard as I want to (or need to). I know that I will be registering for the Dopey Challenge and I know that it will hurt a lot! Running my first marathon hurt a lot so I can only imagine how this will feel. Registration is right around the corner. April 9th to be exact. I am scared, nervous and excited about the Dopey Challenge but I know I can do it.
The first Disney movie I ever watched was Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (or Doors as I called them). I fell in love with Dopey during that movie and earning the Dopey Challenge medal would complete the collection of Dopeys that I already have.
Ok, so am I completely crazy for wanting to do the Dopey Challenge?
