2012 Disney’s Wine and Dine Health and Fitness Expo

So way back in November, I participated in runDisney’s Wine and Dine Half Marathon Race Weekend. I haven’t had the chance to finished my recaps yet. With another awesome one right around the corner (literally!), I figured it was time for me to get going on those. Just in case you missed them, here are my other posts about that weekend: Visiting the Food and Festival (again) and the runDisney Meet Up and Warm Up with Jeff Galloway.

When the Meet Up and Warm Up Event finished, I hoped back in my car and headed to the hotel. The Expo wasn’t open yet so I had enough time to take a shower before going to get my packets. My boyfriend was awake and waiting for me when I walked in the door. I quickly showered and changed then headed back out to ESPN Wide World of Sports.

Since this was my fourth Health and Fitness Expo at Disney, I knew exactly what I needed to do. I still can’t believe that I have participated in four runDisney races in just over a year! Unlike the other expos, this was the first time I was picking up multiple packets. Once we got inside the HP Field House, I hoped into the half marathon line first while my boyfriend scoped out the merchandise area.

Then I grabbed my 5k race bib.

After I got my race bibs and checked the timing chip, we headed over to the Jostens Center to pick up my race shirts and browse through the vendors.

I was surprised (and delighted) that the shirt for the half marathon was a long-sleeved tech shirt. I don’t have very many of long-sleeved shirts to run in.

The shirt for the 5k race was a cotton shirt, which means I won’t be able to work out in it. For this race, I didn’t really mind because the design on the front is absolutely fabulous and perfect for the theme.

While wandering around the Expo, I found an awesome shirt to wear during the race from Raw Threads. The same company I bought “The Evil Queen” shirt I wore during the Tower of Terror 10 Miler. Oh and just in case you were wondering (or haven’t figured it out yet), Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is one of my favorite Disney movies.

We also checked out the second runDisney Merchandise Tent. My boyfriend had already done a brief walk through while I was getting my race bibs. He warned me that I wouldn’t like the “I DID IT!” shirt and he was right. The shirt was just too pink for me. For the first time, I didn’t buy one of the official race shirts. We did purchase the pint glasses and a few extra pins.

Before leaving the Expo, we looked over the blown up maps and all of the runDisney medals. I wanted to make sure I knew exactly where I was going to be meeting him after the race.

Not only do I want all of those medals but I also really want that medal hanger!!

Next in this series is my recap for Mickey’s Jingle Jungle 5k!

You don’t happen to know when 2013’s Wine and Dine half marathon is do you? I have been searching for the date.

Also, I have a medal hanger from http://www.medalhangers.com/ and it is AWESOME and they are willing to work with you to make personalized ones too. I highly recommend it! I love my medal hanger, I have it in my living room hanging all my medals proudly.

According the race program for the Marathon, the Wine and Dine Race Weekend is going to be Nov. 8 – 9. I will definitely be there! :) It was my first half marathon ever and I plan to go back every year.

My boyfriend actually made me a custom medal hanger from Christmas (2011) but I really LOVE the runDisney one. My medal hanger will be hanging above my desk in my home office once it is finished. I wish they would sell them because that is something I wouldn’t pass up. I will check out that company and see what I can create when it is time for a new one.

Awesome! Thanks! I like to start to get that kind of stuff on my calendar so I can plan around it at work and don’t plan anything for that weekend. It is true that medal hanger is awesome.

I am jazzed about the evening run. I haven’t done a half marathon at night before, it will be awesome to not have to be up way before the crack of dawn and have the race finished before most people are out of bed.

What was your favorite race outside of the runDisney ones that you did last year?

My favorite non-runDisney race last year was probably the Rock ‘n’ Roll St. Pete half Marathon. It was literally through the streets I grow up knowing. I ran past the college campus my parents graduated from. I ran past the Minor League Baseball Stadium my dad used to take me and sisters to. It was such a great and very nostalgic race for me. I am still debating on running this year’s race even though it is three weekends after the ZOOMA race and four weekends after the Disney Marathon. :)

I just stumbled on this. Was wondering if you could send me the link to the 5K recap, or give me any info on it. It will be my first 5K. I’m so excited, but also curious. There is a lot of info on the half out there, but I haven’t found anything on the 5k. Thanks
