My Running Year in Review: 2012

Happy New Year’s Eve! I seriously can’t believe that 2012 is already over.

2012 Running Year Review

As another year comes to a close, it is time to look back at the moments that made it special and to see how I did on accomplishing my goals for the year. Instead of going through my 2012 resolutions, I decided to share this survey about my year in running that I saw on Amanda‘s blog.

My Running Year in Review

A big part of my year was running and it was a roller coaster. The beginning of the year started off strong and I felt amazing during my races and many runs. As the year went along, I really started to struggle with finding a balance. I found myself getting slower and not being able to follow my training plan.

Best Race Experience: My best race experience in 2012 was the Walt Disney World Half Marathon. The course was amazing and I loved the entire thing. I didn’t set a new PR but I think it was the most fun I have ever had during a race.

Best Run: The best run I had this year was at the Shape Up for Summer 5k. That race was another fantastic one. I set my current 5k PR during a rather hot summer run. The race was very well organized, which the run my favorite one of the year.

Best New Piece of Gear: My favorite new piece of running gear is my Nike GPS SportsWatch. I haven’t written a review of it yet but I am in love with it. I still like my Garmin watch but I haven’t used it since August.

Best Piece of Running Advice I have received: “Just keep moving forward.” One of my father’s coworkers is a triathlon coach. He told me that no matter how tough it gets I just need to keep moving forward. This finish line is front of me, not behind me. I remind myself of this during every race when I am having a really tough time.

Most Inspirational Runner: Dorothy and Krissy are the runners that inspire me the most. They are two of the most amazing runners that I have found.

If I could sum up my year in one word, what would it be: Sophomoric. My second year of running wasn’t as exciting as the first year. I knew what to expect for the most part and because of that I didn’t push myself as much as I could I have.

I learned a lot this year and I am really hoping to have a better 2013!

How was your 2012?
