Last week’s training went pretty well. My training schedule called for three runs and a total of 17 miles. While I didn’t quite hit the mileage, I did run three times and that makes me happy. Hopefully this week, I will meet my mileage goal for the week.
Last Week’s Workouts:
- Monday, 9/10/2012 – Rest Day
I feel like a broken record sometimes but I feel like I am finally able to get back on track with my weekly workouts … just not today. I spent the weekend cleaning out my apartment and moving the last of my stuff into my boyfriend’s house. I have a whole post that I am working on. We didn’t leave my apartment for the last time (ever) until 11:30 pm and didn’t get to sleep until after 1:30 in the morning! I think I spent the entire day as a walking zombie. By the time I got home, I was so not in the mood to workout. We ate dinner and then went to bed.
- Tuesday, 9/11/2012 – Easy Run (4 miles)
- 4.47 miles, 51:53 minutes, 11:35 min/mile avg. pace
- Mile Splits –
- Mile 1 – 10:53 (Warm Up)
- Mile 2 – 10:03
- Mile 3 – 11:27
- Mile 4 – 13:28 (Cool Down)
- Mile 4.47 – 5:49 (12:23 pace) (Cool Down)
Since I am in need of a new favorite running route, I decided to join the Fit2Run running group tonight for the easy run on my training schedule. When I got there, I found out that there normal Tuesday runs are actually tempo runs and the coach wasn’t even joking about running at a tempo pace. After the warm up mile, the coach divided us into small groups and we did different drills (high jumps, burpees, lunges, and crab walks). Then it was time for the tempo portion of the run. I probably went out a little bit too fast because I burned out after the first mile. I slowed way down and finished out my run and took a few walking breaks. I felt pretty good after the run and really felt like I had pushed myself for the first time in a really long time.
- Wednesday, 9/12/2012 – Rest Day
This morning when I woke up, I realized that I had somehow lost my crucial information sometime after my run. Since I didn’t want to drive to work without, my boyfriend and I made an emergency trip to the DMV to replace it. After I finally got to work, I rushed around trying to make sure I was all caught so that I could leave in tome for dinner. Tonight I attended a dinner with GM in the Southeast at AQUA Bar and Grille. It was an awesome evening with delicious food and wonderful company. Check out my entire recap here and it includes a whole lot of food photos.
- Thursday, 9/13/2012 – Rest Day
Even though today was a Thursday, it still felt like everything was going wrong. I woke up late, which means I got to work much later than normal. After a few hours at work, my computer literally dies. It practically explodes while I am desperately trying to finish my work. Somehow or other, I got a virus on computer and my hard drive crashed! My whole work day was completely shot after that happened. My IT guy actually told me to take the afternoon off. I was in such a bad mood that I just wanted to go home, eat dinner and relax, which is exactly what I did.
- Friday, 9/14/2012 – Easy Run (2+ miles)
- 2.01 miles, 24:16 minutes, 12:04 min/mile avg. pace, 163 BPM avg. HR
My training schedule this week was completely thrown off from the very beginning. My Tuesday run was supposed to be easy but instead I ended up doing a tempo run with the Fit2Run group. My Thursday run was supposed to be intervals but I just didn’t feel like running after the bad day I had. Honestly, I wasn’t really in the mood to run because I am still unsure of where to run in my new neighborhood. Thankfully, my boyfriend has a treadmill for me to use. It isn’t the greatest treadmill and it isn’t anything like the ones I am used to from my old fitness center. It took me a little bit to get used to the treadmill so my pace was really off and I only ended up running 2 miles.
- Saturday, 9/15/2012 – Rest Day
Today, I went to the Central Florida Bloggers Conference in Orlando. It was such an awesome day and I learned a LOT. I am still trying to digest everything that I learned. My recap(s) will be up at some point this week. I also have a ton of ideas/plans for my blog and I hope you will like them.
- Sunday, 9/16/2012 – Long Run (8 miles)
- 8.00 miles, 1:37:28 (total time), 12:10 min/mile avg. pace, 163 BPM avg. HR
After yesterday’s really long day, I was completely surprised that I was able to wake up early enough for my long run. One of the things that I have really struggled with is waking up in enough time to beat the heat of the day. I quickly changed into my running outfit and got ready to head out. Unfortunately, I didn’t realize last night that we didn’t have anything for me to eat before my run. I decided to grab an extra energy gel and hoped that it would be enough to help me power through. My run wasn’t perfect and it certainly wasn’t great but I finished it and that is really what matters.
