Since today was such a special day for my dog, Tugger, I figured he would enjoy telling you about it himself rather than letting me to tell it for him.
My parents love baseball. In fact, baseball is the whole reason they met and I have the best mama ever in my life. Up until today, I had never been to a baseball game. My parents have tried to take me to some of the minor league games in the area but something always came up and i never got to go. Today was different though. Today, my mom took me to Tropicana Field to watch the Tampa Bay Rays take on the Baltimore Orioles.
All week, she had been telling me that she had something special planned for Sunday. She refused to tell me what it was even though I begged. I think I need to work on my begging skills. When she got back from her run this morning, she told me to get ready to go out. My dad brought home an awesome Rays bandana for me wear today. Once I had my outfit on, we were on our way. I really wish mama would get a new car with a working air conditioner because I am not a huge fan of the wind blowing on me.
After we parked, walked to the stadium and had our ticket scanned, Mama and I had to walk up one of the rotundas to get to our seats. Thankfully, the Rays had placed buckets of water for all the dogs to drink from because it was HOT outside. Daddy was already there because he was working the game so I didn’t expect to see him until after he got home. I was pleasantly surprised to see him waiting for me at the door. I was so happy to see him.
Daddy, Mama and I went into the stadium where we hung out for a little bit. I think Daddy was worried that Mama wouldn’t be able to handle me. I promised him that I would be a good boy that I could stay for the entire game. It was my first ever baseball game and I didn’t want to screw it up. A few of Daddy’s coworkers came to visit us before going back to work.
Mama and I wandered around for a bit to see what was going on for me and the other dogs. We had to stay in the *tbt Party Deck but that was ok because there was plenty of stuff for me to smell and look at. We checked out our seats but Mama decided it would a little tight for me. She suggested we hang out up top so I would have plenty of room to hang out.
Mama grabbed a Cuban sandwich for lunch and a bag of popcorn to snack on. I love popcorn so I put my begging skills to work. I was hoping she would share some of hers with me. She totally gave in to my begging!
During the game, Mama and I found a great place to hang out and watch the game. I made a bunch of new friends and everyone who walked past seemed really happy to see me. The Rays didn’t win today but Astro’s dad, David Price, pitched a great game.
I couldn’t decide if this was actually a dog. Mama had to reassure me that this wasn’t a horse and was really a dog. I have never seen a dog this big before in my life.
The Rays were really cool and gave all of the dogs a really nice water bowl. Mama is looking forward to using it on future outings. I had such an amazing day at my very first baseball game! I hope they have another one next year. Maybe Daddy will be able to take the day off of work to go with me and Mama.
