How did your weekend go? Mine was jam packed with fun and relaxation and a little shopping. Yesterday, I spent the morning at Nordstrom‘s for the Zella Day of Movement event. Today, I hung out with my sister and father at Tropicana Field to watch the Tampa Bay Rays take on the Oakland Athletics.
The three of us arrived at the ballpark around 1:00 for the 1:40 game so that we could wander around a bit before going to the Everglades BBQ Smokehouse for lunch. Since almost everyone in my family works there, we knew that this place offered one of the healthier better selections of food at the stadium.
Since the three of us weren’t really in the mood for anything super heavy, we all ordered the salad bar. We also split an order of the ranch potato wedges, which were delicious and I will definitely be trying to replicate at some point in the future.
We also decided to have lunch at the Everglades BBQ Smokehouse because of the awesome view of the game and the fact that we could pretty much stay there for the entire game. If you don’t want to spend a lot of money on a ticket and still get a great view, this place is just what you are looking for. We had a reasonably priced meal, a great view of the game and we didn’t have to spend a lot on our tickets.
The Rays got out to an early lead with a 4 run first inning but it didn’t last. The Athletics took the lead in the third inning and never looked back. The Rays just never found their groove again and the pitching just wasn’t solid today like it has been so far this season. Even though the game didn’t end with another ‘W’, the Rays still ended the day with the best record in baseball!
One of my favorite things to do when I am at a baseball game is to wander around the ball park and check out what has changed since last season.
Do any of you guys remember Game 162 of the 2011 baseball season? The last day of last year’s regular baseball season went down in the history books as one of the best of all time. Why? Because it marked the epic fail of two teams AND the two greatest September comebacks in baseball history. One of those comebacks was orchestrated by the Rays. To commemorate that historic event, the dedicated one of the bullpen party areas to it and called it the 162 Landing because it is where the game winning home run landed!
After the game, my boyfriend and I went to dinner at one of our favorite places, The Moon Under Water. Guess what? We each ordered the exact same thing that we ordered the last time. I think we were both craving curry because that is the only time we go there and since we were in the neighborhood it worked out perfectly.
Did you do anything exciting this weekend?
