A Breakfast at the Beach

When I woke up on Sunday morning, I immediately started getting ready to go for my long run. This was the moment I was most looking forward to … running on the beach.

I had this grand idea that I would just go out and run my 9 mile long run on the beach. Mother Nature had other plans for me though. As I ate my breakfast, my boyfriend went out on the balcony to see if the wind had died down. No such luck!

I was bound and determined to run on the beach though. So instead of heading for the treadmills, I walked out towards ocean. To say that I was being pig-headed is a huge understatement. Not only was the wind ridiculous but the tide was coming in.

After a mile, I decided that 9 miles on the beach was not going to happen. Not willing to give up on running outside, I decided to try running around the lake and resort. Once again, I underestimated the weather. After another mile, I realized that my long run wasn’t going to happen.

When I got back to the room, I found my boyfriend already packing up. I took a quick shower and then joined him. We finished getting our stuff together just in time to make our Beachside Brunch reservations.

My boyfriend and I absolutely love breakfast. One of our favorite things to do is sleep in on the weekends and grab brunch from one of our favorite restaurants. The Beachside Brunch at Shutter’s was perfect for us and was a great way to end our weekend at the beach.

The best part of the brunch, besides the delicious food, was the adult beverage included with the meal. A mimosa for me and an extra spicy bloody mary for him! Yummy!!

Once we were finished with brunch, we headed back to the room to grab our stuff and load the car. Thank goodness for late checkout! We quickly packed the car and made the 3 hour drive home. Even though the weather was not great, we still managed to have a very relaxing weekend at Disney’s Vero Beach Resort!
