Another magical race at the happiest place on earth!
Last night when I set the alarm for 3 AM, I was pretty sure that I was going to sleep through it because I am NOT a morning person AT ALL! The alarm went off and oddly enough I was almost wide awake, ready to run through Cinderella’s Castle.
I quietly moved around the room getting ready for the race. I grabbed my breakfast of yogurt and granola.
Around 3:30 AM, I was ready to go! I left the hotel room and headed to the monorail station located in the Contemporary Resort. When I got on the train, it was already pretty full of runners staying at the Grand Floridian and the Polynesian Resorts. The monorail took us from the hotel to the Transportation and Ticket Center where we had to catch another monorail over to Epcot for the start of the race. Watching the line of traffic, including buses, trying to get into the parking lots was the main reason why I chose to stay where we did!
After getting got off the monorail, I joined the line of runners walking to the staging area. Since my boyfriend was going to be at the finish line, I didn’t worry about bringing a bag to check. Instead, I made sure that my running sweatshirt was in the camera bag he was planning to bring with him. So when I got to the staging area, I didn’t need to get in the bag check lines. Instead, I started walking towards the corrals.
The crowd of people of people moving was completely impressive. I knew there were almost 27,000 runners registered for the race but I didn’t really have a clue as to exactly how many people that really was. While I was walking, I decided that I better use the bathroom port-a-potty so that I wouldn’t need to stop during the race. After what seemed like forever, I finally made it to my corral.
While waiting in the corrals, there was music playing. I spent the 30 minutes of waiting in the corrals trying to stay as warm as possible, which included dancing around to the music playing.
I’m freezing and barely awake but I am ready to rock this race!
