Monday – Strength Training
- Kettlebells – Practice all Demonstrations (26 minutes)
My day started a little later than I wanted it to. My plan was to wake up early so that I could drop my car off at the dealership before I went to work. Every Monday for the last couple of weeks I have had a conference call in the morning. The agenda isn’t sent out until Sunday night so I really need the extra time in the mornings to prepare for the meeting. I guess the excitement from my sister’s 21st birthday dinner really wore me out because I couldn’t wake up this morning when my alarm went off.
After I finally work and got ready for work, I ate my breakfast. This morning I had pomegranate flavored fat free Greek yogurt with classic granola. I didn’t take a picture of it because it looked a whole lot like yesterday’s breakfast. I headed off to work to tackle what lay ahead for me this week. Let’s just say that this week is not going to be as easy as last week was! I didn’t get a chance to prepare my lunches for the week last night so I went downstairs and had delicious hummus wrap. A whole wheat wrap was stuffed with roasted red pepper hummus, feta cheese, romaine lettuce, tomatoes and onions.
A few hours later, I enjoyed my afternoon snack. I have found that one of the keys to weight loss success is eating small meals throughout the day. My afternoon snack today consisted of a Chocolate Chip Clif® Bar and a cup of coffee from my desktop Keurig® machine. I absolutely love my afternoon coffee. Normally, I head across the street to Starbucks but the weather was nasty all day today. I did get talked into walking across the street anyway. Instead of getting another coffee, I chose to have a hot tea. We got rained on but it was really nice to get out of the office for 15 minutes.
On my way home from worked, I stopped at Panera to grab some dinner. It was late and my sister is in class on Monday nights so I am pretty much on my own for food. I grabbed one of my favorite meals: half of the Mediterranean veggie sandwich and a cup of the garden vegetable soup. I also enjoyed two chocolate chip cookies. Another key to weight loss success is to not deny yourself of everything. Moderation is the name of the game.
After eating dinner, I finally had the opportunity to do my kettlebell workout for the day. Today is the first day of Week 4 of my strength training program and is the first day of using the Volume 2 DVD in the Ultimate Sculpt and Condition with Kettlebells DVD Series. Because today is the first time using this DVD, the scheduled workout was to got through the exercise demonstrations. I actually went through the demonstrations twice because I wanted to make sure that I understood how to do each exercise. The exercises shown on this DVD are more advanced than the ones on the Volume 1 DVD and I am really glad that I took the time to become comfortable with the 15 lb. kettlebell before tackling this DVD.
